Featured Artist: Roland André

Today, Roland André (Delbosco Fils), Jean Jacques' brother (Bianca and Yvette's uncle) is hosting a grand opening of his exhibition in a medieval castle of the Templars in Greoux, not far from Manosque, Provence.
This is a once in a life time exposition of works created by both father and son.  58 years after the death of Ernest André (Delbosco), this will be the first time these two artists exhibit together.

Roland managed to gather 43 paintings (including some reproductions done at actual size) of his father's work and has included 63 of his own most recent works.  Both artist's works are outstanding examples of painting with light!
Félicitations Delbosco et Delbosco Fils!

Jackson Hole Museum: Telling the Eastern Shoshone and Shoshone-Bannock Stories...

This week Bianca has been on site in Jackson Hole working closely with Ren Freeman, Karen Reinhart, Lokey Lytjen and the team at the Jackson Hole Museum.  The Museum reflects the stories of the people in Jackson Hole.  Three years ago Bianca recommended the Historical Society reach out the the Native Community and ask them to share their story, as it relates to Jackson Hole, in their own words.  Since that time the Museum has done exactly that.  Building bridges with the Eastern Shoshone and Shoshone-Bannock communities, they have contracted Ren Freeman, an Eastern Shoshone, to act as liason, researcher and interpretive developer, with the Tribes, and help guide and research the stories to be told.

Bianca is passionate about ensuring the "Native Voice" in the exhibition is not one of tokenism, but instead is vibrant, reflecting the culture, integrated into the larger story of Jackson Hole.  Too often the Native American story is left off in the past.  The Jackson Hole Museum will be presenting, along side the story of the trappers and traders, homesteaders and ranchers, hunters and fishermen, mountain climbers and skiers, the Shoshone-Bannock story, celebrating the rich past, the tragic loss, the Tribes today, and the hope for the future.

Later Bianca and Karen were treated to an evening at the Shoshone-Bannock Powwow in Idaho.  Thanks so much Ren!

Featured Artist: Matt Brouwer

You may remember Matt Brouwer, the young photographer from Evenstar Photography who did the photography for Art Beyond Beauty, our internship project last year. This Spring he set himself a 30 day challenge to photograph an aspect of Nursery Hill Park each day for 30 days.  Matt writes:

Here is a little window into the idea behind the book :

"If you're anything like me - when you're lucky enough to travel -everything seems brand new and exciting. It looks different, sounds different, smells different. It's easy to be inspired and see the beauty all around you.
But are all the places we travel to really more beautiful and inspiring than closer to home? Perhaps, but what about the scores of people who come to this part of the world to get refreshed and inspired?
Upon reflection, it seems more likely that many of us have become jaded, and simply don't take the time to stop and find the beauty that's out there waiting for us in our everyday lives. Out of this realization came the 30 Day Challenge.
The idea was simple. Go to the same little park in my neighbourhood, every day for thirty days and try to produce something original and fantastic every time.
Creativity was limited to what could be accomplished in the camera. No postproduction on the computer was allowed.
In the spring of 2011, I set out, every day, rain or shine for thirty days. Along the way I learned a lot about slowing down, enjoying life, and seeing the beauty that's all around us"

I highly recommend you check it out.
