Wanapum Field Trip

At the end of August Tom joined some of the Wanapum team and Bruce Arnold from Jones and Jones Architects in Vancouver to review both the Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia and the Squamish Lil'Wat Cultural Centre in Whistler.

The site visits were to review facilities and programs and to talk about the successes and challenges of both institutions and see how the lessons learned be incorporated into the new Wanapum Heritage Center.

Wanapum Heritage Center

We have had three productive meetings so far for the new Wanapum Heritage Center. We are very pleased to be working with our good friends Jones and Jones Architects and the Wanapum team at these early stages for the development of both the exhibits and the building.

Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitor Center

Tuesday Aug 12 was a red letter day for us as the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center was opened with appropriate ceremony and pride. Bianca and Michael attended the auspicious occasion and enjoyed the chance to reconnect with all our Interior Alaskan friends. The working visit also included the review of potential fabricators for the exhibit portion of the building and a welcome for Jan Vriesen who has arrived from Minnesota to begin the task of recreating the painted diorama backgrounds that will show the landscape of Interior Alaska through the seasons.
