AAID After Hours - Bianca & Bill - Serve the City

Twice each year Bill and Bianca join with their church family and partner with local agencies for Serve the City day.  300 +/- people take time out of their busy lives to join together and serve difference organizations around town.  There are literally thousands of needs, all around the city: homeless shelters, food banks, women's support organizations, public parks and beaches, etc.

Over the years Bianca and Bill have helped to dig vegetable gardens, paint barns, repair gutters, remove fences, move furniture, stake hale bales, and pull out invasive species like English Ivy vines and Himalayan blackberry canes.

"It is a good feeling to join a bunch of people with a common purpose to help out somebody else.  There is laughter and camaraderie and the feeling of making a difference - being involved in something bigger than ourselves." —Bill

AAID After Hours - Amy - TEDx Victoria

TEDx Victoria is an independently organized idea-sharing TED-like event.   TEDx is planned, coordinated and organized by volunteers who are passionate about sharing ideas, bringing together community and inspiring action.  The annual TEDx conference gathers like-minded individuals for a day-long event which includes live presentations and performances that inspire dialogue and create connections.

Over the past few years Amy has been volunteering for TEDx Victoria as part of the stage design crew (led by designer Lisa Preston) to create a design that is inspired by the theme of the conference.   For the 2012 event they worked with artist Charles Campbell to create geometric columns that were influenced by the theme "Momentum".   Stay tuned for photos of this years design for the Nov 16th Conference - "Emergence".

Cowichan Regional Visitor Centre

On October 8th, Amy and Bianca loaded up the van with props and artifacts for the Cowichan Regional Visitor Centre to Three Dimensional Service Inc. (3DS) office in Vancouver.  Working with 3DS, Bianca and Amy created preliminary layouts of objects for the design units.    Stay tuned for future design updates as the centre will be opening soon.
