Thank You AAM 2014!

Bianca, Andy and Amy are back from a successful and enjoyable trip to the AAM 2014 Annual Meeting & Expo in Seattle.

We had a great time catching up with friends, colleagues and clients and meeting new ones at our booth in the exhibit hall.  A big thanks to Shelon Atwater from AAM for answering all of our exhibitor questions over the past few months.

We attended several sessions at the conference. Memorable and inspiring speakers included: Caroline Martin, Manager at the award-winning Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre, spoke about the development of her museum; Daniel Spock, director at the Minnesota History Center Museum, and his project on the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862 and working with Native American communities; Alex Freeman, Associates Director at the Edward & Betty Marcus Foundation and Nik Honeysett, Director & CEO of the Balboa Park Online Collaborative, and their presentation on the NMC Horizon Report.  We were really encouraged by the many organizations that are involving youth at their institutions including:  Seattle Art Museum Teen Arts Group, the Youth Advisory Board at the EMP, and MoMA Teens.

We had a blast at the evening events.  We saw the Iron Throne and tested our musical skills at the kick-off opening night party at the EMP Museum.  Andy and Amy went on a Tacoma Museum crawl and visited the Museum of Glass, the Washington State History Museum, the Children's Museum of Tacoma, and the Tacoma Art Museum.  One of our favorite events was the evening at the Seattle Art Museum.  We really enjoyed exploring the permanent galleries and the "Miro: The Experience of Seeing" exhibit.  We'd like to thank all of the institutions that hosted us - we had a fantastic time.

We look forward to seeing everyone soon!
